In the novel The Prisoner of Zenda by Anthony Hope, meeting the King and his loyal servants in the forest before the King’s coronation, changes Rassendyll’s life forever. This is because when the King is drugged and unable to attend his coronation, Rassendyll is persuaded by Fritz and Sapt to take the King’s place at the coronation. However, when the King is kidnapped by Duke Michael, Rassendyll must continue to pretend to be the King until he is saved. Rassendyll’s life is often in danger as he tries to save the King and throne from Duke Michael. He also falls in love with Princess Flavia. If Rassendyll had not been in Zenda forest at that particular time, his life would have been very different.
