In the novel The Prisoner of Zenda by Anthony Hope, I find the ending of the story most interesting because this is the part where the conflict in the novel is resolved. Rassendyll and Princess Flavia confess their love for each other, but at the same time they know that they have to sacrifice their love, for the sake of honour and duty to the country and King. Although Rassendyll could have made the decision to take the King’s place, especially as it means being able to marry Princess Flavia, he is too honourable to do so. In the end, Rassendyll leaves Ruritania and lives a quiet life in the country.
