Based on one of the novels you have read, which incident did you find interesting?
- Name the novel you have chosen
- State which incident you find interesting
- Give reasons, using textual evidence, as to why you find the incident interesting
The novel I have chosen to write about is The Prisoner of Zenda by Anthony Hope. The incident that I find most interesting in this novel is the time after the dance, when Rassendyll has to make the difficult choice between love and honour. Rassendyll is in a dilemma because he is in love with Princess Flavia, but he knows he cannot marry her. He does not want to betray the King because he has promised to save the King. Rassendyll’s honour will not let him take the King’s place, his throne or his bride. This incident emphasizes that honour is more important than love. Both Rassendyll and Princess Flavia sacrifice their love for honour and duty.
