Prisoner of Zenda: Question & Answer - Moral Value

Based on one of the novels you have read, write on a moral value you have learnt.

Recommended Outline
  • Name the novel you have chosen
  • State one value you have learnt
  • Give examples of characters and events, from the text, that show the moral value

There are several moral values highlighted in the novel The Prisoner of Zenda. The moral value I have chosen to discuss is on doing one’s duty to the country and being a responsible person. This is shown in Rudolf Rassendyll. Although Rassendyll is just visiting Ruritania and is not a citizen of Ruritania, he shows how much he cares for the country. He agrees to pretend to be the King during the Coronation, to prevent civil war. He also risks his life many times, trying to save King Rudolf the Fifth who is imprisoned at Zenda Castle. He even sacrifices his love for Princess Flavia, for the sake of Ruritania. Rassendyll is truly a morally responsible person.
