Based on the novels you have read, write on a character you admire. Give evidence from the novel to support your answer.
- Name the novel you have chosen
- State which character you have chosen
- Give examples from the text to show why you admire this character.
The character that I admire the most in the novel The Prisoner of Zenda is Rudolf Rassendyll. He is a rich and handsome young man who goes to Ruritania for a holiday. By coincidence, he looks exactly like the King of the Country.
I think that Rassendyll is a very brave man, as he is willing to impersonate the King, who is kidnapped by Duke Michael. He does not run away from dangerous missions and is not afraid to fight anyone to save the King’s life and throne.
In my opinion, Rassendyll is also the most responsible person in the novel. He loves Princess Flavia, but he does not let it get in the way of his duty and responsibility towards the King. In the end, although it is hard for him, he has to leave her and put honour before love. He is truly an admirable character.
